What to Do
Days are filled with safaris, on foot or in a four-wheel-drive. Expect wildlife viewing at a scale you’ve never experienced before. Returning to the lodge, guests unwind with sundowners on the spectacularly designed terrace. At night, guests can dine inside or out under the stars around a Masai fireplace where international chefs cook up dishes inspired by the local cuisine or enjoy an unforgettable hot-air balloon ride over the park and ending it with an al fresco picnic.
The Serengeti National Park is the absolute safari treasure, where every year blue wildebeest, lions and leopards and zebra migrate across in search of the rain. Meliá’s new Serengeti Lodge is set up in the heart of the Serengeti National Park, perfectly placed to view wildlife. The hotel is seamlessly integrated into its natural environment, the Serengeti. Photovoltaic panels and biogas are used to generate energy. Rainwater is collected through the roof and purified. The rooms have been designed with state-of-the-art ventilation techniques so they don’t need air-conditioning, just back-up fans. Fossil fuels are used only in emergencies.
